Hello! I am Zhang Tong, a young tenor singer. With my love and unremitting pursuit of vocal art, I have accumulated rich experience in many years of study and stage practice, and formed a unique singing style.
I graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and then went to the United States for further studies and obtained a master's degree from the Juilliard School of Music. During my studies, I was fortunate to learn from many famous teachers in the industry, including Shi Heng, a baritone singer from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Darell Babidge, director of the vocal department of Juilliard School of Music, Li Yi, a tenor singer living in the United States, and Wei Fugen, a pianist and artistic director. Their careful guidance laid a solid foundation for my vocal journey.
On the stage, I left many wonderful moments. In May 2024, he was assigned by the Ministry of Culture to visit Algeria on behalf of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He served as a tenor soloist in the "Algiers International Symphony Concert" and worked with conductor Chen Xieyang, mezzo-soprano singer Wen Muya, Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, and Algiers National Symphony Orchestra to present a musical feast for the audience at the Algiers Opera House. In addition, he also participated in many classic operas, such as "Lodin" in the repertoire "Kangding Love Song" of the 5th China Opera Festival, and Alfredo in Verdi's opera "La Traviata", showing solid singing skills and artistic expression in different roles. And he has participated in various important concerts as a solo guest many times, such as the first and second Shanghai Contemporary Music Festival Symphony Music Works Concerts.
In terms of honors, I have also reaped a lot of rewards, winning the 14th China Music Golden Bell Award (Bel Canto) in 2023, the third place in the Bel Canto group of the 4th "Shenzhen Vocal Season" China Vocal Talent Training Program National Invitational Competition in 2022, and the first place award of the 7th Paul Coney International Opera Vocal Competition in 2021.
